This estimate prices a flooring install by room area and material, with a clear waste-factor allowance and any subfloor prep called out as separate lines. It tells the customer exactly what's measured, what flooring goes where, and what's an allowance versus a firm price.

What a good flooring estimate includes
- Your business name and contact details — and the client's.
- An estimate number and date, plus how long the price is valid.
- Line items with a clear description, quantity, unit price, and amount.
- Subtotal, tax (at your local rate), and the total — no surprises later.
- Notes and terms: what's included, what's excluded, deposit and payment terms.
- State measured square footage per room and the waste factor you added (typically 5-10% for planks/laminate, 10-15% for diagonal or herringbone, more for sheet vinyl/tile patterns) so the customer understands why ordered material exceeds floor area.
- List subfloor prep as conditional or allowance lines — self-leveling compound, plywood underlayment, screwing down squeaks, removing old adhesive — and note these are estimated until the existing floor is pulled up.
- Spell out tear-out and disposal of existing flooring separately, and flag whether old vinyl/tile may contain asbestos requiring testing before removal.
- Break material from labor per flooring type, and state who supplies the material; if the customer buys their own, exclude shortfall and defect risk from your price.
- Note transition strips, thresholds, quarter-round/shoe molding, and stair nosings as itemized lines, plus furniture moving and appliance disconnect/reconnect if you're handling them.
