Flooring Calculator
Add each room or run as its own area — and subtract cutouts like an island or closet. Square footage, waste-adjusted total, and box count out. Accepts feet-inch input straight off the tape, and applies waste and box rounding once to the total so multiple runs don't over-buy.
Planning tool — results are estimates for quoting and ordering, not engineering or building-code advice.
Common questions
What waste percentage should I use?
10% covers straight lays in regular rooms. Use 15% or more for diagonal or herringbone patterns, plank flooring in rooms with many corners, or natural material with culls.
How do I find the box coverage?
It's printed on the carton — typically 18–25 sq ft per box for laminate and engineered plank. Enter your product's actual number for an exact count.
Does it work for tile?
Yes — the area math is the same. Enter the carton's coverage as the box coverage and consider 15% waste for diagonal layouts and cuts.
